How to calculate volume & Water capacity of Rectangular Tank

Calculating the volume & water capacity of a tank is important for any of construction, These calculations help us the design of the tank’s size and capacity, ensuring it meets the project requirement. in this accurate capacity calculation will helpful for water usage, load distribution, and the efficiency of water intake and outflow systems.

In this article we will provides the step by step procedure to find out the calculation of volume & Water capacity of Rectangular Tank

Formula to find capaity of Water capacity of Rectangular Tank = Length × Width × Height

For Example From the above image

Length (L) = 5.00 m

Width (W) = 3.00 m

Height (h) = 2.50 m

So, Volume = 8.00m × 3.00m × 2.50m = 60.00 m3

Water in 1 m³

The density of water = 1 m³ = 1000 liters (1000 kg)

Weight of Water

Weight of water = 60.00 m³ × 1000 = 60,000 liters 

Water in US and UK Gallons

1 liter = 0.264172 US gallons

so, Water in US Gallons:

60,000 × 0.264172 = 15,850.32 US gallons


1 liter = 0.219969 UK gallons

Water in UK Gallons:

60,000 × 0.219969 = 13,198.14 UK gallons

So, This Tank Capacity is 60,000 liters / 15,850.32 US gallons / 13,198.14 UK gallons
