How to calculate the slant length of cone

What is Slant length of cone

To finding slant length of cone is very important to find out the surface area & volume of cone he slant length is the distance from the tip (or apex) of the cone to any point along the edge of the circular base. The following article will guide you step by step procedure to calculate the slant length of a cone with an example.

From the above image

Height: The perpendicular distance from the tip of the cone to the center of its base.

Radius: The distance from the center of the base to any point on its edge.

Slant Height: The hypotenuse of this triangle

H = 5.0 m

R = 2.0m

Formula

The slant height (s) can be calculated using the Pythagorean theorem:

Slant length  = √(h² + r²) so,
Slant length  = √(5² + 2²) = 5.39 meters

Result :- Slant length of cone as per given Example = 5.39 meter
