Reinforcement Steel Weight Calculator
This Reinforcement steel weight calculator helps you calculate the weight of reinforcement bars (TMT steel) accurately using diameter and length. Whether you’re a site engineer, quantity surveyor, contractor, or student, this tool simplifies your steel estimation process.
The calculator supports both metric and imperial units:

Formula Used
The steel weight is calculated using the standard formula:
Weight (kg) = (D² × L) / 162
Where:
- D = diameter of the bar in millimeters (mm)
- L = length of the bar in meters (m)
If the length is given in feet, it will be converted to meters using:
L (m) = L (ft) × 0.3048
✅ How to Use:
- Select the diameter unit – millimeter or inch
- Enter the diameter of the steel bar
- Select the length unit – meter, foot, or millimeter
- Enter the length of the bar
- Click the Calculate button to get the steel weight in kilograms
The tool will also show you the weight of a standard 12-meter bar of the same diameter in both meters and feet.
✅ Why Use This Tool:
- Saves time and eliminates manual errors
- Useful for preparing bar bending schedules (BBS)
- Helps in checking steel quantities for procurement
- Good for BOQ preparation, estimation, and billing
